about

ABOUT

I am a second-year Undergraduate Microbiology Major on a Pre-Med track at the University of Florida. On campus, I am involved in faculty research and several student organizations. Off campus, I volunteer at the Ronald Mcdonald House and the Community Hospice Center of Alalchua County. In my free time I enjoy reading, sewing, and the sunshine.

JOURNAL

1st Semester Reflection

As exciting as college has been so far, it has also been overwhelming. The first semester has flown by and I can't help but reflect on how much I have learned. Not only have I learned new things in my classes, but I have also learned so much about life itself. New friends, responsibilities, and lessons have all shaped me in ways I never could've anticipated. I am forever grateful for it all.

Arts in Medicine Certificate

What is the Arts in Medicine Certificate?

The certificate program develops students ability to effectively practice art in healthcare settings.  Students are trained to use art to enhance patient experiences and overall wellbeing.

Personal Art Pieces

In the first part of the program, students create art using a variety of different mediums and topics. Students  actively learn different areas of art to develop their personal art style and curriculum.

This is a personal piece I created during the program. It is completely made out of cardboard, a readily available material that can be used for a wide variety of projects. While creating this piece, I learned how to manipulate cardboard using different techniques.

Ronald Mcdonald House

As part of the Ronald Mcdonald House's "Kids Crew", I organized art projects for patients living in the house. This allowed me to apply the skills in a practical, healthcare setting.

This piece was created by one of the patients and I. It is a recreation of the Ronald McDonald House's logo, but with an orange egg added to the center. The piece was created after an Easter egg hunt in the house, so the artist thought the house logo would be incomplete without a hidden egg.
